NGC 7380, also known as the Wizard Nebula, was discovered by Caroline
Herschel in 1787. This 7hr 45 min long narrowband image reveals the depths of
exotic nebulosity. NGC 7380 is located in the constellation Cepheus about
7,000 light-years from Earth in the Milky Way Galaxy. Look closely at the
"shooting stars" or proplyds in this image and you will be rewarded. Much of the
star forming is recent, having occurred in the past 4-5 million years.

The image was captured Nov 12-19 2016 in Rockwall, TX using an AstroTech
AT-130mm refractor at f/6 and QSI-583 WSG with AstroDon 5nm
narrowband filters on EQ-6 Pro mount guided by Orion Starshoot Autoguider
and PHD. Image time: L(Ha) 150min, R(Ha) 45min, G(Sii) 150min, B(O3)
120min.  Colors mapped according to the "CFHT" palette as follows:  Ha(R),
Sii(G), and OIII(B). Images captured, calibrated, and aligned with MaxIm DL6
Pro. Assembly and post-processing in Photoshop CS2.
